Which PHP versions are available? Print

  • 0

In short: Virgo Networks supports multiple PHP versions on shared and reseller hosting. The versions available to your account are shown in SiteWorx and may change as supported releases are added or retired.

Recommended: Use the newest PHP version supported by your website or application. Older releases may be available for compatibility, but should not be treated as suitable for a new site.

Check the versions available to you

  1. Sign in to SiteWorx.
  2. Go to Hosting Features > Domains > PHP Options.
  3. Select the pencil icon beside the domain.
  4. Open the PHP Version list. This is the authoritative list for that domain.

You can also edit a domain under Hosting Features > Domains > Manage. Changing the version in either location updates the same setting.

Before changing PHP

  • Check the application, theme and plugin requirements.
  • Take a current backup of the website and database.
  • Apply outstanding application updates first.
  • Make the change during a quiet period and test the site immediately afterwards.

If the version you need is missing

PHP availability is controlled at account level. If a suitable supported version is not listed, open a support ticket and tell us the domain, application and version required. We can confirm the available options and the safest migration path.

After changing PHP

Check the public website, administration area, forms, scheduled tasks and any payment or API integrations. If you see a blank page or an HTTP 500 error, change back to the previous version and review the PHP error log before trying again.
