How do I create or manage a mailbox? Print

  • 0

In short: Create and manage hosted mailboxes in SiteWorx under Hosting Features > Email > Mailboxes. A mailbox stores mail and has its own login; aliases and forwarders only redirect messages.

Create a mailbox

  1. Sign in to SiteWorx for the hosting account.
  2. Open Hosting Features > Email > Mailboxes.
  3. Select Add a Mailbox.
  4. Choose the domain, enter the part before the @, and set a strong, unique password.
  5. Set an appropriate quota. Use Send Copy To only when a second destination genuinely needs every message.
  6. Save the mailbox and test both incoming and outgoing mail.

Mailbox, alias or forwarder?

TypeUse it when
MailboxA person or system needs to sign in and keep messages on the server.
AliasAnother address should deliver to an existing local mailbox without a separate login.
ForwarderMessages should be sent on to another address. Keep in mind that forwarding can interact with sender-authentication and spam controls.

Change or suspend a mailbox

Use the mailbox list to change its password or quota, set a vacation response, or temporarily suspend access. If a device stops connecting after a password change, update the saved password on every phone, computer and application that uses the account.

Deleting a mailbox is destructive: Download or migrate any mail that must be retained before deleting it. An alias or forwarder is not a backup of the mailbox.

Configure your mail application

Use the full email address as the username and the secure settings in our Email server settings guide. Prefer IMAP when the mailbox is used on more than one device.
