Email server settings Print

  • 1

In short: Use the settings below for email included with Virgo Networks shared and reseller hosting. Your username is your complete email address.

PurposeServerPortSecurity
Incoming mail (IMAP, recommended)shared.virgo-networks.net993SSL/TLS
Incoming mail (POP3)shared.virgo-networks.net995SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail (SMTP, recommended)shared.virgo-networks.net587STARTTLS
Outgoing mail (SMTP alternative)shared.virgo-networks.net465SSL/TLS

Authentication settings

  • Username: your complete email address, such as name@example.com
  • Password: the password assigned to that mailbox in SiteWorx
  • SMTP authentication: required; use the same username and password as incoming mail
Recommended: Choose IMAP if you read mail on more than one device. IMAP keeps messages and folders synchronised with the server. POP3 is mainly suitable when one device downloads and manages the only copy.

Common setup problems

  • Enter the full email address as the username, not only the part before @.
  • Enable authentication for the outgoing SMTP server.
  • Use port 587 with STARTTLS first. Port 25 is intended for server-to-server delivery and should not be used for a mail client.
  • Use shared.virgo-networks.net exactly as shown to avoid certificate-name warnings.
  • If receiving works but sending does not, check that the client is using the SMTP settings above rather than an ISP mail server.

If setup still fails, open a support ticket and include the device, mail application, exact error and whether the problem affects sending, receiving or both. Please never send us the mailbox password.
