In short: Open the service in the Client Area to see available upgrade or downgrade options. Use the formal cancellation request for a service you want to end; stopping payment alone is not a cancellation request.
Upgrade or downgrade
- Open Services > My Services.
- Select the service.
- Choose the upgrade or downgrade option if it is available.
- Review the new specification, billing adjustment and effective date before confirming.
Some changes require migration, hardware work or a new service rather than an automatic plan change. Open a Sales or Technical ticket if the required option is not shown.
Before cancelling
- Download websites, databases, mail and any other data you need to retain.
- Move DNS, email and dependent services before the cancellation date.
- Check whether domains, licences, addresses or add-ons are billed separately.
- Record the service identifier and requested cancellation timing.
Request cancellation
Open the service and choose Request Cancellation where available. Select immediate or end-of-billing-period cancellation carefully and provide a clear reason. Keep the confirmation for your records.
Domains are separate
Cancelling hosting does not necessarily cancel or transfer a domain. Review each domain's renewal status and nameservers separately so it remains under control.
If the Client Area option is missing
Open a Billing ticket from the account and identify the exact service and desired effective date. Cancellation remains subject to the current contract and Virgo Networks terms.
Email, DNS and search results
Cancelling a website does not automatically remove search-engine results, cancel separately billed email or transfer a domain. Search engines may retain indexed pages after hosting ends; use their supported removal tools when urgent removal is justified, and keep a suitable response or redirect available where possible.
Confirm the intended outcome separately for hosting, domain registration, DNS, email, licences and add-ons before submitting cancellation.
