In short: Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a one-time code to your password. Enable it separately for the Virgo Networks Client Area and for SiteWorx or NodeWorx accounts that you use.
Recommended: Enable 2FA for every person with billing, domain, support or hosting-control access. Each person should use their own login rather than sharing an account.
Enable 2FA in the Client Area
- Sign in to the Virgo Networks Client Area.
- Open the account menu and select Security Settings.
- Under Two-Factor Authentication, select the option to enable it.
- Choose time-based tokens and scan the QR code with your authenticator application.
- Enter the current six-digit code to confirm setup.
- Save the displayed backup code somewhere secure and separate from the device.
Enable 2FA in SiteWorx
- Sign in to SiteWorx.
- Go to Administration > Authentication.
- Select Generate.
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator application.
- Enter the current authentication code and select Save.
NodeWorx reseller users can configure authentication from the equivalent NodeWorx account-security area.
Protect the recovery method
- Do not store the backup code beside the password.
- Do not paste QR codes, secret keys or current one-time codes into support tickets.
- Before replacing a phone, transfer the authenticator entry or confirm that the backup code is available.
- Keep the phone's date and time automatic; time drift can make valid-looking codes fail.
If you lose access
Try the saved backup code first. If that is unavailable, contact us. We will need to verify authority over the account before changing an authentication setting.
