In short: A commercially manufactured two-way power splitter may be permitted on a colocation power port, but you must obtain Virgo Networks approval before installing it.
Conditions
- The cable or splitter must be commercially manufactured and appropriately safety tested.
- Only one two-way splitter may be used per approved power port, allowing no more than two devices on that port.
- The combined load must remain within the contracted power allowance and the rating of every cable, connector and distribution component.
- Virgo Networks must approve the installation in advance.
Do not install an unapproved splitter: Overloading or unsuitable cabling creates a safety and availability risk for your equipment and neighbouring services.
Request approval
Open a support ticket with the rack or service identifier, device make and model, expected load, connector types, and the splitter's manufacturer and rating. We will confirm whether it is suitable before installation.
